Amazon (AMZN), which is deploying the technology across its platforms, has been testing a new artificially intelligent (AI) tool that finds products that match the interests of a customer. It also tests a chatbot focusing on health.

The shopping feature, called Interests, allows consumers to create personalized shopping prompts “using everyday language,” according to the company's webpage.

Once a consumer puts in what they are looking for—for instance, Amazon notes, “brewing tools and gadgets for coffee lovers,”—Interests will scan the online store and notify the person of the latest products. Amazon has launched Interests to a small number of U.S. consumers on its app and mobile site and plans to roll it out across the country.

Amazon said Interests uses large-language models to automatically convert the prompts into Search engines can only process a limited number of queries.

Separately, Amazon is also testing a chatbot called "Health AI" on the company's website, a spokesperson said. The assistant will provide health information and guidance to help customers "easily discover and navigate products and solutions that address health care needs and find access to appropriate care," the spokesperson said.

CNBC was the first to report the trial of a health chatbot.

Investopedia published a piece on Amazon’s AI chatbot, Haul bargain platform, and other innovations in shopping late last year.

Amazon shares fell in the morning trading. They have gained approximately 14% over the past year through Tuesday.

UPDATE—March 26, 2025: This article has been updated to include confirmation of the health bot.
