Looking for a trading strategy to take advantage of Tuesday’s Tesla earnings report? You could bet on the stock making a big move—or you could try something a bit weirder: counting Elon Musk’s words.
Prediction markets have a wide range of wagers that are unrelated to numbers. You can bet at PolyMarket on how many times Musk, the CEO of the company, will say certain things during today’s conference call. The options range from “AI” (“artificial intelligence”) to MAGA (or “Make America Great again”).
The highest expected odds on the platform were recently 95%. This means that a successful $10 wager would earn you $10.11. The odds for the latter acronym were recently at 11%, which means $1 would earn you almost $73. You can also bet on words such as “Trump,””Mars,” and “inflation.”
Kalshi offers a variety of bets. For example, if you wager $10 on the chance that a Tesla representative will say the word “Roadster”, you’ll get $20.
Investors expect Tesla’s stock to move significantly in the coming days. Wall Street analysts are divided in their expectations of the electric vehicle maker.
