Elon Musk’s CEO provided some new information to investors interested in Tesla’s (TSLA) future, rather than its latest numbers.
Musk gave new timelines Tuesday on Tesla’s conference. These ranged from robot production to self-driving cars. These comments, including a pledge to spend a lesser amount of time on government work followed the release first-quarter financials results, which included an annual drop in auto revenues of 20%.
Here's a summary of four of Musk's latest pronouncements:
- Musk says Tesla will be selling fully automated rides in Austin, Texas in June. The business will expand to other cities in this year, and become financially material in 2026.
- Musk said that unsupervised, self-driving cars owned by individuals should be available in several U.S. cities before the end of 2025. The goal is to “go to sleep in your vehicle and wake up at the destination?” Musk said that new Model Ys could deliver themselves this year.
- Musk announced that the company will release more affordable Teslas this year.
- Musk expects to have “thousands of” Optimus Robots working in Tesla factories at the end of 2025. He said he was confident that Tesla will be producing one million robots annually by 2030.
Musk said in a call that he must “execute well.” The transcript was provided to AlphaSense. “But I think Tesla would be the world’s most valuable company if we execute well.”
